Shawn Mendes cancels rest of Wonder World Tour to focus on his mental health

Pop superstar Shawn Mendes cancels the rest of his Wonder World Tour.

The Stitches hitmaker took to social media to make an emotional statement that he was cancelling the rest of shows he was scheduled to perform.

This comes just 3 weeks after a previous announcement that he was postponing 3 weeks worth of performances due to mental health issues.

The statement read: “As you guys know, I had to postpone the past few weeks of shows since I wasn't totally prepared for the toll of being back on the road would take on me,”

“I started this tour excited to finally get back to playing live after a long break due to the pandemic, but the reality is I was not at all ready for how difficult touring would be after this time away.”

Shawn continued: “After speaking more with my team and working with an incredible group of health professionals, it has become more clear that I need to take the time I've never taken personally, to ground myself and come back stronger.”

“I unfortunately have to cancel the rest of the tour dates in North America, and the UK/Europe.”

The 23-year-old hitmaker stated: 'We were hopeful that I might be able to pick up with the rest of the dates after some much needed time off, but at this time I have to put my health as my first priority.'

But whilst he has cancelled live shows, breaking the hearts of thousands of fans in the process, the Treat You Better sensation confirms he will still be working on musical projects.

He stated: “This doesn’t mean I’ll be making new music, and I can’t wait to see you on tour in the future.”

Shawn added: I know you have all been waiting so long to see these shows, and it breaks my heart to tell you this but I promise I will be back as soon as I’ve taken the right time to heal.

The 87 show schedule was due to be his fifth tour, the latest to support of his fourth studio album Wonder , released in 2020.

The first series of shows were meant to last until October of 2022, before resuming again in March of 2023 in Italy.

He was then scheduled to jet to European countries like France, Spain, Germany and The Netherlands before the last set in the UK and finishing in Dublin Ireland in August of 2023.
