Arlene Phillips discusses her 80th birthday on Loose Women
Dame Arlene Phillips reflected on her birthday celebrations during an appearance on Loose Women on Tuesday.
The acclaimed choreographer turned 80 on Monday surrounded by family and told the panel it was a “fabulous” day.
“It was a family day with all my family from different parts of the country coming together and celebrating in my house.
“It was all the generations from old me to right down to the little granddaughters and actually the grandnephews too, so it was fabulous,” she enthused.
However, she also admitted that the occasion gave her pause for thought.
“You know what the most extraordinary thing happened,” she said.
“Because everybody talks about my age – always has done – and I’ve just bounded on.
“You know it doesn’t matter how old you are it’s what you feel inside,” she proclaimed.
Despite her positive attitude she did admit that this defining birthday did cause her a slight wobble.
“I woke up on my 80th birthday virtually in shock,” she exclaimed.

“Because all I could think about was ‘actually 80 – it’s getting close to not being here.
“But something happened where I went, ‘Ok you’ve got to breathe and sort of plan what you want to do!’” she said emphatically.
The acclaimed dancer, choreographer, director, talent scout and former Strictly Come Dancing judge has enjoyed a career spanning five decades but belies her years.
Viewers agreed quickly taking to social media to comment how well she looked.
