Avengers Endgame: Old Captain America’s age finally REVEALED by Marvel

The closing scenes of Avengers Endgame saw Captain America travel back in time to return the Infinity Stones. However, to Falcon’s surprise he didn’t return. Instead, Sam sees an old man sitting on a bench nearby. It’s Steve Rogers as an elderly man who had gone back in time to have the life with Peggy Carter he always wanted.

But something fans have been trying to work out is just what age old Cap is that scene.

Well Avengers Endgame’s visual effects producer Jen Underdahl spoke with Wired and claimed he was 106.

Jen said: “In the case of Captain America, what would a super-soldier look like if he aged 106 years?”

However, it’s not clear if she meant Cap was literally 106 years old or was now 106 years older since he went back in time.

Meanwhile, a popular fan theory claims that old Steve Rogers was at his wife Peggy’s funeral in Captain America: Civil War – alongside his younger self.

Comic Book shared a post on Instagram of a shot from Peggy’s funeral in Captain America: Civil War.

The scene sees the pallbearers carrying her coffin towards the front of a church.

Fans will remember that Cap was one of these, but Comic Book reckon the white-haired old man also shown is his older-self from the end of Avengers Endgame. Are there two Caps here?

Earlier this week, a Marvel Phase 4 Disney Plus show saw some pictures leak.

The show in question is What If…? an animated show that considers different possibilities that could have happened in the MCU.

The leaked images depict a gorgeous comic-book-style CGI animation.

Characters who feature in the pictures include a pre-super soldier serum Steve Rogers, Peggy Carter as Captain Britain and Bucky.

However, the most intriguing are stills of zombie Captain America and Black Panther as Star-Lord.

The latter presumably is a universe where T’Challa was abducted as a child instead of Peter Quill, going on to become Star-Lord instead.

While zombie Cap references the Marvel Zombies comic run set on alternate Earth-2149, where superheroes are infected and become the undead.

What If…? arrives on Disney Plus in summer 2021.
