Christine Lampard reveals she just wants her car filled with petrol for Valentine's Day

CHRISTINE LAMPARD says she is not interested in extravagant Valentine’s gestures – she would rather husband Frank filled up her car with petrol.

The Loose Women presenter, who has been married to the former Chelsea and England footballer since 2015, said the most romantic thing he has done for her is propose.

But with February 14 just three days away, she admits she would prefer him to ditch the red roses and chocolates to keep it simple.

Christine, 39, told The Sun on Sunday: “I always go back to the engagement moment, which was just beautiful.

“He’s very good with flowers and all those sorts of things but I’m not a huge gesture person.

"I don’t need, like, a thousand red roses on Valentine’s Day.

I don’t need, like, a thousand red roses on Valentine’s Day…I really don’t.

"I really don’t.

“I would much prefer tiny little things every single day to all of the fuss on the one day.

“It’s the little, simple things, stupid stuff like filling the car up with petrol, or when I go back home and he has the candles lit.

“I’d take that on a daily basis as opposed to a big gesture on special days.

"Frank is very good like that.

"He’s very thoughtful.

“I have absolutely no idea what we’ll be doing on Valentine’s Day.

"We may have a bit of dinner or something but, again, I don’t need a fancy dinner.”

Frank’s 2011 proposal to Christine took him three months to plan and cost more than £150,000, including the ring and a luxury US holiday.

Frank even lived up to his romantic credentials during our interview, sending a massive bouquet of flowers and four giant cupcakes to her hotel room.

Smiling, she said: “It’s nice it’s so romantic.

"It’s a bit like we’re 12 years old again.

“We’ve been together for nearly nine years and married for over two, and we have very busy lives.

“He’s away a lot and I’ll be away for the week doing the show.

“But then when we have our day together, or hopefully two days together, we really enjoy ourselves and try to make it just us for a lot of that time.

“We’ve got our little dog and it’ll probably involve walking to one of the pubs.

We get quite excited about going to the pub and having a giggle and keeping it simple.

"We love that kind of nice, everyday thing.

“That makes it really special for us.

"We get quite excited about going to the pub and having a giggle and keeping it simple.

"That’s the key.”

When she is not in the pub with Frank, 39, Christine has plenty to keep her busy.

The Northern Irish presenter has been a host of ITV daytime staple Loose Women since 2016 and loves appearing on the panel because it is so personal.

She said: “I don’t enjoy things if I don’t feel something with it.

"I feel really lucky with Loose Women in that we all get along so well.

I feel really lucky with Loose Women in that we all get along so well.

“I was really nervous the first day I walked in.

"I’ve watched the show for so long, you feel like you know the ladies when you sort of don’t.

“But they were absolutely brilliant with me from day one, every single one of them, even Janet Street- Porter who everyone’s slightly scared of.

"She’s even funnier away from the cameras.

"They’ve all really welcomed me in, and that allows me to relax talking about the things I’m talking about.”

The Loose Women team are planning a big party next month to celebrate Linda Robson’s 50 years in showbiz.

While Christine cannot wait for the celebrations, she was less keen to join her fellow panellists in a more revealing project last year.

The Real Bodies campaign saw show regulars Andrea McLean, Coleen Nolan, Stacey Solomon and Sun columnist Jane Moore strip to their undies to promote positive body image.

Despite not appearing in the line-up, Christine might consider taking part this year, if she can overcome her own body hang-ups.

She said: “It is all about celebrating your body and to be part of it is brilliant, because it makes a huge difference.

“It’s still talked about so much with the audience.

"But yet I’m like, ‘I don’t know if I want to’.

They will do something else this year I’m sure and I guess I will be involved in some way — we’ll see.

“But I’m really not sure about whipping it all out now.

"I don’t even bare all when I’m on a holiday by a pool.

“Not that it’s a thing I’ve thought through.

But I’m really not sure about whipping it all out now.

Maybe it’s just an old- fashioned, prudish thing.

“I have my little outfits, and I just think as long as I get a bit of colour I’m happy.”

Away from Loose Women, Christine is fronting Celebrity Haunted Mansion, which launches on the W channel this month.

She is a perfect fit for the job, not least because she believes in the supernatural.

She said: “Nowadays we all think we’re terribly clever, because we’ve got information at our fingertips 24 hours a day.

So we think we know it all.

“And actually, we just don’t, and that’s what I like about it all.

“There are things in the world that we can’t explain.

I’ve had my tarot cards read loads

"And as much as people can’t accept that, that is the truth.

"You can’t explain it and you just have to accept it.

“I’ve had my tarot cards read loads.

"I have a really good friend at home who classes herself as a bit of a white witch.

“She would read cards and all sorts.

"She’s able to tell me all sorts of things.

“I did the cards more before coming to London and I remember one of the last times with her, she told me about coming here and it being a great thing.”

When she is not working, Christine also helps to look after Frank’s daughters — Luna, 12, and Isla, ten — from his marriage to Elen Rives.

Both girls split their time between Elen, and Frank and Christine.

Despite not having a brood of her own, Christine considers bringing up the girls a “trial run” for when the time is right.

She said: “You get asked a lot about kids and it is the sort of question where you go, ‘I don’t know why anyone else is even remotely interested’.

“It’s just one of those things.

"We’ll see what happens, that’s how I see it.

“We’ve got Frank’s little girls half of the week anyway so we’ve got a lot of kiddie stuff going on, well, almost teenager stuff.

“I’ve had the trial run totally, I know what I’m doing.

"I missed out on art homework last night because I was out at a dinner.

I’ve had a trial run for being a mum

"The eldest came back with paints and I was about to walk out of the door.

"I could see her face drop because Daddy was going to have to help.

“I’ve got my hands dirty in all activities.

"Making slime is the most recent thing that all youngsters are doing.

"They’re obsessed with it.”

As well as being a dab hand at homework, Christine reckons she is a good housewife, too — but leaves the “boring” stuff to Frank.

She said: “The housey stuff’s me, definitely.

But Frank is brilliant at organising flights and stuff.

Frank's fantastic at anything that involves looking ahead.

“He’s fantastic at anything that involves looking ahead.

“Like my car needed servicing and I would carry on driving with that symbol flashing at me for six months, but he’s already organised the car to go in.

“It’s just boring, everyday stuff.

But that’s kind of how it works.”

Asked if Frank would make a good Loose Man, she said: “Well, he’s been on the show a couple of times.

“But he’s got good opinions and he constructs his answers well.
