Christine McGuinness told Lorraine viewers that she and ex-husband Paddy want to "keep things the same" for their three kids.

The couple, who shockingly split in July last year, share twins Penelope and Leo, nine, and Felicity, six who they agreed to co-parent following the end of their 15 year marriage.

Speaking to Lorraine Kelly on her ITV daytime show, Christine said: "We want to keep things the same as much as possible for the children,"

"I don't want anything to affect them. We are family and we'll always be family, no matter what," she added. "We're living in a nice happy home."

All three of Christine and Paddy's kids have been diagnosed with autism and in a recent BBC documentary the pair revealed more about their family life.

Speaking to Women's Own, she echoed her and Paddy's plans for the kids following their split. "The children don’t know any different and they’re growing up in a happy and loving home – I just want it to continue like that," she said.

"We don’t know what the future holds but right now it works. The thought of eventually co-parenting in separate houses is something I’m going to really struggle with."

Christine has opened up about her marriage with Paddy and admitted that her own autism diagnosis has made it "difficult to accept change."

"I think the changes for me, although they are massive, I am doing everything very slowly. I'm trying to not pretend, I'm trying to not always fit in.

"And then, with my marriage for example, I've been with my husband since I was 19-years-old. I've only ever had this one man in my life for 15 years. I can't imagine living with anybody else, I don't know what it's like to date."

She added: "I can't remember being single and I've found myself in this position now where I don't really know what to do with it and then I am just going into a new chapter on my own, which is petrifying for someone who doesn't like change."
