Coronation Street and Emmerdale fans furious over Christmas Day schedule changes | The Sun

ITV viewers have been left furious over a series of schedule changes for the flagship soaps on Christmas Day.

Fans of both Coronation Street and Emmerdale have been left dismayed after it was confirmed that both soaps would air shorter than usual episodes on the festive day.

Not only would they be trimmed in length, they are also being bumped up to earlier in the schedule with some fans fearful they might miss the action.

In previous years, both soaps have long traditionally aired an hour-long episode each to celebrate the holiday season in the Dales and the Cobbles.

Emmerdale airs one hour-long episode every Thursday with Coronation Street also broadcasting hour-long episodes all year round but that cannot be said for this Christmas.

Instead of the soaps being handed an hour each, viewers will be left raging to discover they will only be recieving one hour in total.

Both Emmerdale and Corrie will air a 30 minute episode each in an attempt to cram in all the Xmas drama.

The soaps will also begin an hour earlier too with Emmerdale launching at 6:30pm followed by Corrie at 7pm.

It means ITV will be airing the least amount of soap action ever this Christmas Day.

Fans will be treated to the first ever Christmas special of The Masked Singer instead as well as a festive edition of the Lee Mack quiz show, The 1% Club.

NOT THE ENDER

By contrast, the BBC are going all out with EastEnders this Christmas.

The soap which usually broadcasts four 30 minute episodes a week will be sticking to its guns and airing a jam-packed hour-long extravaganza for the huge The Six reveal.

EastEnders has been promoting its Christmas Day episode since February of this year with fans picking up clues over the last 10 months.

In order to avoid any clashes and make sure no one misses the epic episode, BBC One will be airing the show later than ever with a 9:45pm kick off.

This means the episode will draw to a close just before 11pm at night when the killer and victim are finally revealed.
