Keen on celebrating small artisanal workshops, Bottega Veneta has revealed its 2023 Bottega for Bottegas.
Marking its third year in a row, the initiative furthers the Vicenza-based luxury house’s international lens – also paying homage to its name “Bottega,” which translates to workshop. For its latest iteration, the Italian brand has selected four unique bottegas – spanning a catalog of talents. First up is the Taiwanese artist, Cheng Tsung Feng, who focuses on traditional handcrafting methods. As an artist, his work centers on preservation and culturally cognizant artistry. Next up is Liu Wenhui, whose craft centers on Chinese woodwork – specifically surrounding building blocks inspired by ancient Chinese architecture.
Third on the roster is Kitai Rhee who focuses on historic Korean kites crafted from bamboo sticks and Korean paper, known as “Bangpae Yeons.” What’s particularly special about Rhee’s work is it is the only bottega in Korea focused on preserving the nineteenth-century art of kitemaking. The last highlighted bottega is Modiano, which is a historic Italian botttega that specializes in playing cards, tarot cards and other paper products. Since its founding in 1868 by Saul Modiano, the workshop has become a leading international brand in its specialty.
