Coronation Street hit by Ofcom complaints after Leanne and Steve pull facemasks off to speak in hospital

CORONATION Street was hit by Ofcom complaints after Leanne and Steve pulled their facemasks off to speak in the hospital.

Leanne has been told her son with ex Steve McDonald is going to die

However, during the scenes, Steve and Leanne discuss Oliver's health in a hospital waiting room with both their masks off.

They are then greeted by a doctor, who removes her mask to talk to the sad parents.

However, Ofcom has told The Sun Online that 11 furious viewers complained about the characters not wearing masks in a hospital.

The broadcasting regulator told us: "Complainants objected to some characters not wearing face masks – or pulling the masks down to speak – during scenes set in the hospital."

In upcoming scenes this week, Leanne and Steve face more bad news after Oliver is rejected for treatment.

The parents are left reeling when the doctors say that, after discussions with the clinic in Germany, they’ve decided that Oliver’s condition is too serious to offer treatment.

Leanne hits the roof and tells Nick she feels that the doctor’s have abandoned Oliver.

This isn't the first time Coronation has been hit by complaints.

Angry viewers complained in May when Yasmeen stabbed her abusive husband Geoff.

They received 276 complaints for the horrific scenes.

Before in March, an off-the-rails David Platt provoked a fight with a bunch of hoodies – and was threatened with a knife.

They received eight complaints by terrified viewers.
