Netflix have released the trailer for their upcoming new true crime series, Crime Scene: The Vanishing at the Cecil Hotel.
And fans of the genre are already counting down the days until it airs in February, thanks to the show’s gripping and chilling central case.
The anticipated four part series follows one of the US’ most mysterious disappearances – that of Canadian tourist Elisa Lam who seemingly vanished into thin air in 2013 after acting erratically.

Her body was later discovered in a water supply tank on the roof of the Cecil Hotel, already infamous for it’s dark history with many even describing it as “hotel death”.
Footage of Elisa’s last known moments of her in a lift went viral as the investigation ensued.
The surveillance clip showed 21 year old student Elisa acting strangely and quickly became a hot topic of conversation.

As many pointed out her strange and unexplained behaviour, the video was watched countless times and led to huge speculation online about what happened to her.
Now, Netflix is delving even deeper into the case, as Joe Berlinger – the man who directed Netflix show Conversations with a Killer: The Ted Bundy Tapes brings us this new series.
Earlier this month in an interview with The Independent, Berlinger said he had been immediately captivated by the case from the first moment he saw the footage of Elise.

“It’s strange and seemingly inexplicable,” he explained when speaking about why he wanted to take on the project.
He added: “The enigmatic nature of the video is really what drew many people around the world, including me, to become passionate about the case and want to solve its mysteries.”
And it sounds as if those just like him who were glued to the case will get some answers to their burning questions when they tune into the series from next month.
The show’s official synopsis for the documentary reads: “From housing serial killers to untimely deaths, the Cecil Hotel in Downtown Los Angeles is known to many as LA's deadliest hotel.”
It continues: “The latest chapter in the Cecil's dark history involves the mysterious disappearance of college student Elisa Lam.”
The series, which is sure to generate big interest, will be available to watch on Netflix from Wednesday 10 February.
