Dan Walker has set the record straight on the belief he was "shackled at the BBC" after moving to Channel 5.
The TV presenter left the BBC for the rival broadcaster last month after presenting BBC Breakfast for six years, most famously with former co-host Louise Minchin.
Dan, 45, has started anchoring Channel 5's flagship news programme 5 News on weekdays at 5pm.

He has now spoken out about what he loves about Channel 5 and how it compares to his old BBC job.
Dan said he really loves that his work is done "with a bit of feeling and connect with our audience in a way maybe other programmes struggle to do".
Asked if this differs to how he presented on the BBC, he told Radio Times: "I think that’s always been my style, rightly or wrongly.
"There’s a perception that you’re really shackled at the BBC and you can’t be yourself, but I’ve never been told I can’t say something."
But he did admit that Channel 5 has "a bit more flexibility", which is something he enjoys.
Dan also pointed out he is working with a very young and creative team at Channel 5.
The broadcaster's first Channel 5 show aired on June 6 to an audience of 390,000 viewers.
Dan was delighted to reveal the show's figures had been boosted by 70 percent after his first day.
He tweeted: "Lots of talk about figures last night… we are quite happy with ours.

"The @5_News audience was up over 70 percent. Thanks so much for watching. We’ll see you tonight at 5, on 5."
However, ratings have since fallen to 203,000 with one bulletin receiving 189,000 viewers before things settled at 230,000.
It should be noted such figures were the same as Dan's predecessor Sian Williams, according to the Mirror.
It is still unknown who will replace Dan on BBC Breakfast, but Jon Kay has been filling in for him since he left the BBC on May 17.
