Dancing On Ice team reveal emergency precautions amid coronavirus outbreak fears

Dancing On Ice producers have got procedures in place in case there is a coronavirus outbreak in the studio.

The virus is spreading around the world at an alarming rate, with 15 cases confirmed in the UK so far.

And Dan Whiston has revealed the team are attempting to be ‘one step in front’ when it comes to protecting the cast and crew – including hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield.

The associate Creative Director Dan Whiston said: ‘We’ve got an amazing medical team. We’ve got an amazing production team that are all over this kind of stuff.

‘There is hand sanitiser everywhere and procedures have been put in place to protect the cast and crew, so I know they’re all over that.

‘Without panicking people, you’ve got to be one step in front, always.

‘Things like hand sanitiser on the doorways, we encourage that anyway,’ he added to the Sun. ‘You’ve got to step up and do the best you can in the environment we’re in.’

The Dancing On Ice gang aren’t the only ones taking precautions against coronavirus – as Gemma Collins has pulled out of a trip to China.

GC – a DOI alum – was due to visit Asia this month, but decided against making the voyage over fears she would contract the disease.

In a chat with the Guardian, the Towie star said: ‘I was supposed to be going to China this month, but with the coronavirus, I don’t want to risk it…

‘Then again, when it’s your time, it’s your time.’

She speaks more sense than some…

Gemma also ensured her loved ones are fully protected in case the outbreak intensifies in the UK.

In fact, she took her nephew to Harrods for a birthday trip – where they ended up leaving with a coronavirus mask, gloves and hand sanitiser for added protection.

Dancing On Ice continues on Sunday, at 6pm, on ITV.
