Dancing On Ice’s Joe Swash backs Stacey Solomon to take part in next series

Dancing On Ice contestant Joe Swash says he would back his girlfriend Stacey Solomon should she put on her skates for next year's series.

Joe , 38, who is gearing up to take to the ice rink on Sunday for the series finale, said he'd love to see the Loose Women host taking part next year.

The dad-of-two said: "I'd definitely put Stacey on the ice. She can get an idea of how hard it is!

"I don't think anyone realises how tough it is until you do it. The thing is with this show, it's not always about how famous or popular you are, it's about your journey and how you grow in the series."

The former EastEnders actor went on to say: "I don't think anyone expected [me to get to the final]. I was a danger to myself!"

Stacey and Joe welcomed their first child together, Rex, in May 2019.

Joe shares 12-year-old son Harry with his former partner Emma Sophocleous, while Stacey shares Zachary, 11, and Leighton, seven, with an ex-boyfriend.

He went on to reveal that he had missed his youngest son and is allegedly surprised that his tot remembers his face.

Joe added: "My son was about three months old when I started this. I haven't seen much of him. I'm so surprised when he recognises me because I’m hardly ever there."

The 38-year-old has been dancing with Alex Murphy, who replaced Alexandra Schauman when she was forced to pull out in January after an injury.

  • Maura Higgins 'was pressured to continue romance' with Curtis Pritchard

Joe hopes to lift the skating trophy after competing alongside Paralympian Libby Clegg as well as Diversity star Perri Kiely.

Libby survived last week's skate-off against magician Ben Hanlin, who lost his place in the competition.

Joking about Joe's new abs, Alex said: "You've got skater's abs! My mum saw him, hadn't seen him in a few weeks, said 'Look what my daughter gave you!' He's got all muscly!"

Dancing On Ice airs at 6pm, Sunday on ITV One.
