Danny Dyer reveals 'huge and epic' EastEnders exit story for Mick

EastEnders star Danny Dyer has teased his upcoming exit storyline, promising fans that its ‘epic’ and ‘huge’.

The actor, who portrays landlord Mick Carter, revealed in January that he’s set to leave the BBC One soap after nine years.

The way in which Mick’s departure comes about, however, has been kept under wraps.

But Danny, 44, has opened up about his impending EastEnders exit, telling Zoe Ball that its a ‘huge’ storyline.

‘We’ve just been pitched my leaving storyline,’ he said on BBC Radio 2’s Breakfast Show on Wednesday (March 9).

‘It’s going to be epic. It’s huge.’

Kellie Bright, who plays Danny’s on-screen wife Linda Carter, added her thoughts on the upcoming narrative.

‘It is going to be epic,’ she said. ‘I don’t know how I’m going to get through, because I’m very sad that Danny is going. But it’s going to be very exciting’.

It was confirmed in January that Danny had decided to leave EastEnders.

Shortly after the news broke, the 44-year-old spoke about why he made the decision to leave the show, confirming that he wanted to try different things.

‘I’ve been contemplating a while now about whether time to roll the dice, take the leap’, he explained during an episode of podcast Sorted with the Dyers.

‘The news is that I’ve not decided to renew my contract, that’s all, it’s not because I’ve fell out with anybody, that job has been amazing for me.

‘I love everybody, it’s an important part of television.’

Danny first rocked up in Walford back in 2013, when Mick and Linda arrived in the Square to take over the Queen Vic.

EastEnders airs Mondays to Thursdays at 7:30pm on BBC One.
