Dickinson's Biggest and Best Deals expert 'flabbergasted' as he learns 'unbelievable' value of guest's £2 brooch

DICKENSON'S Biggest and Best Deals expert was left "flabbergasted" after learning the "unbelievable" value of his wife's £2 brooch.

The ITV show looks back at some of the most memorable times over the last 14 years on Dickinson's Real Deal.

On Sunday night's instalment viewers saw expert Mark Stevens get ready to splash the cash on a beautiful brooch.

The guest, named Simon, told him that the piece of jewellery belonged to his wife and she loved it very much.

The specialist was amazed by what was in front of him and went on to tell the guest about the brooch.

Mark said: "This particular piece of jewellery, it has a name – Holbeinesque.

"Real Holbeinesque jewellery is from the neo-renaissance period and is worth lots and lots of money.

"This is the revival period. This was made between 1860 and 1870."

Simon explained that his wife bought it about 15 years ago and said he wanted to sell it because she never wears it.

Clearly interested in buying the brooch off him, Mark put a whopping £700 on the table.

Simon said: "That's an awful lot of money. It's certianly a lot more money than I expected it to be worth.

"But I think that is a reasonable offer."

He decided to leave the table with the money and couldn't wait to tell him how much his other half paid for it all those years ago.

"My wife actually bought it, I believe, in a charity shop, in Llandudno. But she only paid £2 for it," he confessed.

Mark was gobsmacked over the revelation.

He questioned: "Two pounds?!"

"Yeah," Simon replied.

Still completely in shock, he questioned again: "£2?!"

Simon said: "Yes."
