All three instalments of CBS’s popular FBI franchise returned for an epic triple-bill this Tuesday evening. Later this year, the three teams will join forces for the second time in another huge crossover event, but viewers have been left disappointed to discover the series won’t be returning for another three weeks.
FBI fans were gutted to find out the three-part crossover is delayed until Tuesday, April 4.
The three-hour special will bring the flagship series together with its International and Most Wanted spin-offs for the second time in the show’s history.
Unfortunately, the franchise is set for a longer hiatus than usual, and fans will have to endure two Tuesday nights without new episodes of their favourite show.
FBI fan @kellettsgaines was keen for more info about the event, tweeting: “I thought we have this week’s episode, hiatus and then the crossover?”
To which fellow fan @fbi_zibell clarified: “Yep, but that hiatus is the problem.
“We have three weeks between tomorrow’s episode and the crossover, so the crossover promo will come in two weeks (unless they change something).”
@knightspalmer said: “I hope we get the FBI crossover episodes descriptions soon like this week and the promo pics too. I wanna know what this crossover is about.”
Laura Navins exclaimed: “Three weeks until the epic #FBICrossover Event. April 4th can’t get here fast enough!!”
Aki Hubbard fumed: “This show [airing] one-two episodes a month then going on hiatus for the next [three] weeks is past old.”
@LifeAsGiNi asked: “Why are there so many long breaks? It’s so frustrating.”
And JC Crandall raged: “Can I tell you guys how much these ‘BREAKS’ you’re enjoying SUCK!!
“One week on, then three weeks off. C’mon already!!!!” he added with red-faced, angry emojis. (sic)

Some viewers were already growing impatient as all three FBI series took a week’s break at the start of March.
Plus, details about the three-way crossover are being kept under wraps, so fans may not know exactly what the team are facing for another week or two.
However, it has been confirmed each episode of the crossover will be titled Imminent Threat, Parts 1-3, and the agents will be taking on an international mission.
Eric Kim, CBS Vice President, said in a statement: “As the FBIs continue to dominate on Tuesday nights, we are excited to reward our devoted fans with this special three-hour global crossover event that will bring these three heroic – and popular – teams together for a second time…”
“Our April 4 crossover event will be a non-stop thrilling experience that will keep viewers engaged in ways that only Dick Wolf’s ‘FBI’ world can.”
The three-parter will be airing with a slight change to the schedule, as FBI: International will kick off the crossover first at 9pm.
In the meantime, fans should keep an eye out on other CBS shows and the network’s FBI repeats on Tuesdays as sneak peeks at the crossover could be coming soon.
FBI returns Tuesday, April 4 on CBS in the USA. A UK release date is yet to be announced.
