Floribama Shore fans recognize Aimee Hall as the “Princess Goddess Mermaid” of the Panhandle. Ironically, Hall had no intentions of being part of the MTV series. Find out what reality show Hall initially tried out for and how she ended up a reality TV star on MTV.
Fireball Whiskey helped Aimee Hall get on MTV’s ‘Floribama Shore’
Hall didn’t show up sober to her Floribama Shore audition. “I was hammered off [of] Fireball [Whiskey],” Hall admitted on the Behind the Velvet Rope podcast.
“I [had] on an Alabama Jersey and I remember them just like bending over laughing,” she said of the producers. But before she landed a spot in the Panama City Beach house, Hall had no intentions of ever auditioning. Initially, she wanted to be part of another reality series.
Aimee Hall wanted to be on ‘Party Down South’
“I was actually friends with ‘Daddy’ [Ryan Scott Richards] from Party Down South,” Hall explained on the podcast. Richards lives in a neighborhood not far from Hall’s hometown.
“I had applied to be on Party Down South years ago,” Hall continued. “So I get this call and they’re like, ‘Hey, do you want to try out for this TV show [Floribama Shore]?’”
At first, Hall thought it was a hoax and declined the invitation. “I thought that it was like some like scam or something,” the reality star admitted. Regardless of the invite to audition, Hall was heading to “Floribama” anyway.
“[Producers] were there and ‘Daddy’ was telling me about them,” Hall said. “I ended up interviewing with them at this beach house.” And the rest is history!
Aimee Hall knew she was meant to be a reality TV star
Growing up, Hall always loved reality television. She was a big fan of Jersey Shore and loved watching Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi on the series. “I used to watch Jersey [Shore] growing up,” Hall said on the podcast. “I still love Jersey [Shore].” Love & Hip Hop was another favorite reality show of Hall’s, as well as The Real Housewives of New Jersey.
When the opportunity for her to join the reality television world, Hall knew she was in the right place. Leaving her audition for Floribama Shore, Hall said the sun was shining brightly on her. “I was like, I’m going to be on that show,” she said. “And here I am — I spoke it into existence.”
For Hall, she never really thought twice about becoming a reality star. It felt like the right career move at the time. “I don’t know what it was —when that sun was shining on me that day, I just felt like God was speaking to me,” Hall said. “I’m like, ‘OK, this is the road I’m supposed to be on.’”
Aimee Hall says ‘Floribama Shore’ is a ‘great job’ except for 1 thing
Hall feels it was her destiny to become a reality star. And as many Floribama Shore fans can attest to, being part of a show where your job is to vacation seems extremely fun. Hall admitted being a Floribama Shore roommate was a “great job” — minus one thing.
“Besides all the drama, it can be a lot of fun,” Hall clarified. The biggest challenge of joining the cast of a reality series was the sense of culture shock she got living and working with other people.
“I guess when you grow up in such a small town, [you have] that small-town mentality,” Hall admitted. “I just thought it was so weird that other people had a different opinion than me and I did not like it [at first].” Fortunately, Hall has adjusted and grown alongside her roommates.
Tune in to Floribama Shore Thursday nights on MTV.
