Good Morning Britain fans took to Twitter to complain about the content of today’s show and those that were presenting it. It comes after Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid are taking a well-earned summer break, with several of the other hosts sitting in. But without the fiery debates and big interviews, those watching at home blasted the show as “painful” and “boring”.

Ben Shephard and Charlotte Hawkins were at the helm today, and they were joined on a live video link by Oliver Stone.

The American film director spoke at length about his new book, and his career working in Hollywood.

But for some ITV viewers, the 20-minute interview went on for too long and wasn’t as riveting as they would’ve liked,

Slow news day  #GMB,” one said on Twitter.

Another added: “Enough now #gmb.”

#gmb Booooooooooooorrrrrrrrrrrrrrrriiiinnnnnnngggggggggggggggggg,” a third wrote.

While one commented: “Time to switch off until @piersmorgan comes back.”

Many others called for Piers’ return: “#gmb please come back @piersmorgan GMB is painful to watch.”

“FFS bring back piers Morgan #gmb,” a tweet read.

Someone else added: “@piersmorgan I can’t believe I’m typing this but just to say I’m actually really missing you on #GMB I hope you’re enjoying your time of work but do hurry back won’t you.”

However, there were many viewers were were enjoying the more civilised manner in which Ben, Charlotte and Kate Garraway presented the show.

“GMB is watchable with @benshephard @kategarraway & @CharlotteHawkns as presenters,” a fan said.

Someone else suggested: “I have to say GMB is far better without Mr I love myself big gob and the Princess. Well done to Ben, Charlotte and the team for bringing back the sanity to the show.”

@GMB #gmb I’m loving Monday and Tuesdays at the moment with @kategarraway,” another mentioned.

Piers and Susanna are set to return in September, therefore Ben and Kate are presenting from now until then on Monday’s and Tuesday’s.

Charlotte then sits in on Wednesday’s, while Ranvir Singh and Adil Ray help out with the latter of the week.

It comes after Kate teased Piers’ return being halted.

Piers is currently sunning himself in the South of France, and his co-star suggested he may have to go into a two-week quarantine should France suffer a peak of coronavirus cases.

“Imagine [France] has to quarantine and he can’t come back on air for an extra to two weeks?” She said.

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
