Good Morning Britain has been slapped with 87 Ofcom complaints over Susanna Reid's explosive interview with Boris Johnson last week on May 3.

The straight-talking presenter grilled the Prime Minister behind his reasons for avoiding an appearance on the popular ITV programme for almost five years.

She opened the explosive interview asking whether the politician can confidently say he is "honest" before she quickly reminded him of the numerous scandals he has been at the heart of over the course of his leadership.

This included the partygate scandal back in December 2020 where the 57-year-old admitted he was at a garden party with colleagues at No. 10 Downing Street and breaching lockdown rules during the peak of the pandemic.

After introducing the politician onto the show, the 51-year-old broadcaster wasted no time beating around the bush as she soon left the dad-of-seven squirming in his seat.

She opened with: "Well thank you for being back with us, and it seems remarkable that before we get back into talking about Ukraine, so many people want to know, are you honest, Prime Minister?"

Mr Johnson couldn't help but stumble over his words as he responded: "It think you – yes – and I think that the, er, best way to judge that is to look at what this government says it's going to do and what it does, and that's what matters."

But Susanna was holding no prisoners as she hit back, saying: "I just want a straight answer – you're an honest speaker?"

To which he replied: "Yes, and er, I do my best to represent faithfully and accurately what I believe, and sometimes it's controversial and sometimes it offends people, but that's what I do."

Further on into the nail-biting discussion, the politician admitted the Government could have been faster at helping and welcoming Ukrainian refugees.

He explained: "So far, 86,000 visas have been issued and 27,000 are already here and I want to say, thank you – 27,000 is a lot and it's growing fast and I want to pay tribute to all those who are helping to look after Ukrainians.

"Could we have done it faster? Yes, perhaps we could."
