Gogglebox star reveals why his 'secret' siblings don't appear on the show

Gogglebox star Shaun Malone has revealed why his older siblings don’t appear on the Channel 4 show alongside the rest of his family.

Shaun, who is part of the Malone family, appears on the programme alongside his mum Julie, dad Tom Snr and brother Tom Jnr – and not forgetting their beloved dogs of course.

Although, the 24-year-old actually has two other ‘secret’ siblings, Lee and Vaness, who have never appeared on the show.

Speaking to Metro.co.uk about why, Shaun explained: ‘When the show approached us, it was just me, Tom, mum and dad who were living together.

‘But Vanessa (his older sister) was at university and Lee (his older brother) was off living in his house so they weren’t living at home so it wouldn’t have made sense for them to be on the show – that’s literally the only reason.’

The much-loved family from Manchester have been on the Channel 4 show since 2014, and it’s safe to say they have kept the entire nation entertained during lockdown.

Speaking about how his family got approached for the show, Shaun continued: ‘When we first started we didn’t have a clue what would come of it.

‘We have been extremely fortunate that we have stayed doing it for long. We never expected it to go on as long as it has.’

And according to Shaun, who is a football coach, what we see on TV is exactly how they are as a family in real life.

‘That is literally us, we just sit down and play with the dogs all day,’ he added.

Gogglebox returns in September on Channel 4.
