Double elimination week on The Great British Bake Off is never fun viewing – and even more so when it's two fan favourites that are forced to leave the tent.
This week's episode (Tuesday 24) saw Nicky and Rowan depart the Channel 4 baking competition on week five, which saw the contestants challenged to put their pastry skills to the test.
New host Alison Hammond was tasked with the lovely announcement of crowning star baker – who was Cristy – while comedian Noel Fielding delivered the sad news of who was leaving.
In Nicky's exit interview, she laughed that she'd had a week that could only be described as a "bag of pants," while Rowan reflected on his time in the tent. He said: "Saying goodbye is the worst part."
Last week, no one was sent home, as the judges decided it wouldn't be fair to send anyone home after Tasha had to pull out after the Signature challenge due to feeling unwell.
Following their departure, fans rushed to social media to show their support and how sad they were to see them go.
"So sad to see Rowan and Nicky go," one wrote on X (formerly Twitter), while another said: "Actually gutted about Rowan being eliminated this week."
A third GBBO fan penned: "Really felt for @noelfielding11 being the one to say the two bakers going home," while another said: "Nicky was a favourite, she will be missed."
This double elimination comes after former contestant Sandro Farmhouse opened up about his time on the show in 2022 and spilled some behind-the-scenes secrets.
The star, 31, made it to the final with Syabira Yusoff and Abdul Rehman Sharif and was a runner-up.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with OK!, he's revealed what surprised him the most about his time on the series.
"The day goes really fast and you forget a lot about your time on the show because you're full of adrenaline. When you watch the show back, you remember things.
"I'd also forget I was in the tent with other bakers because I was so focused on what I was doing. It wasn't until I watched it back that I would see everyone else's bakes."
