On Friday’s Good Morning Britain, Kate Garraway and Martin Lewis were back to host the ITV programme as they discussed the latest news headlines. One of the main topics of conversation was about Kate’s victory at the NTAs on Thursday night, which saw the mum-of-two scooping an award for her documentary, Finding Derek. Kate managed to beat the likes of Roman Kemp and Katie Price, who were also up for the award.
During Friday’s GMB, Kate told her co-host about how she broke the news to Derek.
She went on to admit she phoned her daughter Darcy after her win, just so she could tell her husband the news.
“I didn’t go home last night. It is not as much of a scandal as it appears,” Kate joked.
“I’d booked a hotel room near to the ceremony as I knew I would be coming here today, and I knew I’d only get about an hour’s sleep.”
She continued: “I managed to wake up Darcy on her phone so I’m sorry to her teachers at her school today.
“I said can you please take your phone down to dad and she woke him up. He was a bit bewildered.
“But he definitely knows. I’ve got a picture of that. I’ve got a picture of that of my phone of me showing him.
“He was so happy, I think. You can see it in his eyes. He was very happy that I was happy and it was really nice to be able to share that.”
