Things Chris Harrison excels at: 1) saying the line “this is going to be the most dramatic season ever!!!” like he really believes it, god bless, 2) being Bachelor Nation’s resident therapist, and 3) acting as a professional match-maker to a bunch of horny polyamorous strangers. Obviously, Chris is great at hooking other people up, but we’re here to talk about his romantic life. Because if anyone deserves to find love in a hopeless place, it’s this legend.
Here’s the deal with Mr. Harrison’s relationship history, from Justin Bieber’s mom (Excuse?! Me?!) to his current girlfriend, Entertainment Tonight host Lauren Zima.
Gwen Harrison
Chris and his ex-wife Gwen were college sweethearts, but split up back in 2012 after 18 years of marriage. Apparently, distance was a problem in their relationship (hosting The Bachelor involves a lot of travel, duh), but Chris Harrison told Kelly Ripa that they’re on great terms, saying “I’m doing great and so is Gwen. I’m very proud of the fact that we’ve done it well. We’re the best of friends.”
He reiterated the same to E! News, explaining, “It’s been the most difficult part of my life. I keep a smile on my face because I have to, but Gwen and I, we’ve been together for 22 years, married for almost 19. So we grew up together and we have so much history, it would be foolish to not be friends.”
BTW: Chris and Gwen have two kids together. Per Chris back in ye olden days of 2012, “We spent Mother’s Day together, and we had lunch and went to movies with the kids. She will always be my best friend, I hope, and I want her to be happy and she wants me to be happy.”
Pattie Mallette (aka Justin Bieber’s Mom)
These two never confirmed they were dating, but rumors swirled around Bachelor Nation about their vibe after Ryan Seacrest got them to go to a concert together.
Fine, a source did tell Us Weekly that “it was just a fun, friendly night! No real sparks, but they had a blast…She’s known Chris before and they are acquaintances. No real romance though.”
Lauren Zima
Chris is currently dating Lauren Zima, a host on Entertainment Tonight. Ironically, part of Lauren’s job is reporting on The Bachelor and The Bachelorette on her show Roses and Rose, where Chris Harrison has been known to show up as a guest:
So, how did they meet? These two started initially talking over DM, but kept things strictly professional until things changed during a tell-all taping:
“He just gave me a different vibe,” Lauren told Nick Viall on The Viall Files podcast. “It was fairly overt. He mentioned something about picking his kids up or something. He somehow brought up being single, I think. And then I said something like, ‘I’m single now,’ and he was like,’Oh.’ But I said it in a more eloquent way.”
After that, Lauren sent Chris another DM: “I didn’t say, ‘Hey, I couldn’t be more single and I know how darkly alone you are…I opened the door and he walked through. It all worked out really well and it was also the perfect amount of time. We had a little bit of messaging and he said let’s grab a drink and have real person talk.”
Things took off from there, and these two currently seem extremely cute and happy. Also, Lauren clearly has super legit Bachelor scoop, so definitely follow her if you’re thirsty for tea.
