Earlier this week, it was reported the actress who played Mandy Richardson had been sacked from the soap after refusing to delete her OnlyFans account. It was claimed Sarah had been issued a warning from Channel 4 bosses for the content she posted to the online platform. Sarah, who has been a staple on the soap since 1996, reportedly left the soap after failing to reach a compromise with bosses.
Hollyoaks fans were left outraged by the move, with many threatening to boycott the soap. They went on to defend Sarah as they pointed out in the past Hollyoaks has released a number of “babes and hunks” calendars.
Twitter-user @Tellylad said: “Can’t believe Sarah Jayne Dunn has been sacked by #Hollyoaks for being on OnlyFans.
“Like seriously, WTF?! Double standards of the highest degree. It’s up to her what she does with her own body. She hasn’t become a porn star! She can act and model and get paid for both, surely?” (sic)
Chris raged: “Wait #Hollyoaks SACKED Sarah Jayne Dunn?! Over OnlyFans?! Literal trash response to SW.” (sic)

While Grianne tweeted: “Petition for #Hollyoaks to officially reinstate Sarah Jayne Dunn aka Mandy Richardson?”
“I’m actually disgusted with @Hollyoaks treatment to Sarah Dunn being sacked because she has an only fans account is not ok .. her only fans contend is no different to the Hollyoaks calendars they sold for years,” Lianne penned. (sic)
@MissLionHeart went on to point out that the soap has released racy Hollyoaks calendars in the past.
She said: “So #Hollyoaks have sacked Sarah Jayne Dunn for posting racy pictures on OnlyFans – yet over the years, they’ve released their racy babes and hunks calendars.”
On Monday, Sarah took to her Instagram account to thank her fans for all their support.
Sharing a saucy snap of herself, the actress penned: “The amount of support I’ve received over the last week, following my decision to move some of my content onto a subscription platform, has been overwhelming!
“I am thrilled that the reasons behind my decision have been acknowledged, accepted and completely embraced and as I’d hoped have inspired many other women to own their power, dismiss judgement and embrace their feminine.”
Despite the positive messages, Sarah went on to explain she had received some negative ones too.
She continued: “Strangely the few (like a handful) negative comments I’ve read or heard about have been from men rolling their eyes or other mothers saying how ‘as a mother’ I should not be conducting myself in this manner.
“I’ve said it in a previous post and I’ll say in again (but in case you need reminding/reassurance) ‘YOU CAN BE BOTH A MOTHER AND A SEXY BADA** WOMAN!’
A switch doesn’t just turn off your sexual prowess once you give birth.
“We are still fiercely powerful sexual women, even more so if anything because becoming a mother gives you a power and self-worth like no other when you realise just how incredible your body is!”
She concluded her post: “STOP body shaming, mother shaming, woman shaming and let others live and do what THEY choose to do with their OWN bodies. It’s time to change the script.” (sic)
Following the claims Sarah had been sacked from the soap, a Hollyoaks spokesperson told The Sun: “Hollyoaks is a youth-facing drama with many young viewers, who follow our cast very closely, both in the soap and outside of it.
“We take our responsibility to our young audience very seriously and therefore the show does not allow any Hollyoaks cast members to be active on certain 18+ websites.
“We had hoped we could reach a resolution with Sarah that would allow her to remain in her role as Mandy, but we respect her choice to continue to produce content on OnlyFans.”
