Peri Lomax (Ruby O’Donnell) and Shaq Qureshi (Omar Maalik) were feeling lonely this festive season in Hollyoaks, and therefore they took comfort in one another, kissing passionately.
It’s been a tough year for both characters, with Shaq dealing with the loss of his beloved Verity Hutchison (Eva O’Hara), who tragically died after being attacked by killer Bobby Costello (Jayden Fox).
Peri, meanwhile, has been struggling with her lingering feelings for Juliet Nightingale (Niamh Blackshaw), who broke up with her earlier this year, before pursuing a relationship with Nadira Valli (Ashling O’Shea).
Juliet, however, broke things off with Nadira, and told a pack of lies to both she and Peri, hoping to keep both her exes at arm’s length while she comes to terms with her cancer diagnosis.
But with Peri and Nadira fully aware that Juliet has been lying to them, Monday’s (December 19) first look edition of the Channel 4 soap saw the duo storm around to Jules’ to demand answers.
Juliet claimed to have had a one-night-stand in a bid to throw them off the scent about her reasons for being at the hospital, and her explanation left Peri heartbroken.
The nurse spoke to Shaq, who encouraged her to not waste a moment and try to win her soulmate back, and she ultimately took his advice, trying one more time to get to the bottom of what’s bothering Juliet.
Juliet, however, remained steadfast in her decision to keep her diagnosis from her former flame, before telling her that she doesn’t love her anymore.

Peri was devastated, and subsequently spoke to Shaq, who empathised with her, as he opened up about losing Verity.
But one thing lead to another, and soon the pair shared a kiss, before deciding to take things further.
Will Peri find out about Juliet’s cancer battle? What’s more, will she and Shaq come to regret their passion?
