Huge breakthrough made in Hollyoaks plot to expose Rayne

James Nightingale (Gregory Finnegan) may have got his hands on the smoking gun needed to expose Rayne Royce (Jemma Donovan) in Hollyoaks, with Tuesday’s (August 22) edition of the show proving very interesting indeed.

Rayne, as viewers know, has proven herself to be highly vindictive and seriously dangerous, having lied and manipulated her way into Romeo’s (Owen Warner) heart.

There are no depths that the influencer won’t sink to in her mission to be the be-all and end-all of her beau’s life, having lied about cancer, self-harm and sexual assault.

Peri Lomax (Ruby O’Donnell), however, has saw through Rayne’s lies and is on a mission to expose her, with some assistance from Prince McQueen (Malique Thompson-Dwyer), who Rayne accused of attempting to assault her to drive a wedge between he and Romeo.

James, meanwhile, was tasked by Peri to look into Rayne’s life, hoping to get something to prove to Romeo that his girlfriend is dangerous, which was never more apparent than it was on Monday (August 21) when vengeful Rayne lashed out and violently attacked her lover.

Romeo struggled to come to terms with the events of that evening, with subsequent scenes, which aired on Tuesday, seeing him fight tears, aware that he’d grown scared of her.

Rayne concocted a story to cover her tracks, explaining away her bad behaviour by recalling an incident in which she was bullied while at school, before dropping a huge bombshell, telling Romeo that she goaded Brent into taking his own life, having not believed that he’d actually follow through.

Romeo was appalled by the discovery and headed straight for the hospital to have his wounds tended to by Peri, who urged him to split from Rayne before it’s too late.

The DJ, however, ultimately decided to give Rayne another shot, reflecting on Juliet’s (Niamh Blackshaw) death, telling Rayne that he cannot lose her too.

The influencer headed upstairs to unpack her belongings, having previously packed to move out, though we’re not convinced she actually put anything in the case as it’s more than likely that she was simply trying to guilt Romeo into thinking she actually has a heart.

And thus Rayne avoids justice once again.

Comeuppance when?

Well, funny you should ask as it could be sooner than you’d think, with James having made a huge breakthrough in his plot to expose her. The solicitor discovered that Brent’s mother, Cheryl, upped sticks and left shortly after her son’s death, with no explanation as to where she went.

This Cheryl, however, continues to post online, berating Rayne on her profile, with her comments hinting that she knows much more about the twisted social media star’s past.

Will James, Peri and Hunter be able to locate this mysterious Cheryl? If so, will Cheryl provide them with details enough to expose toxic Rayne for the fraud that she is?
