James Martins Saturday Morning viewers slam insufferable guest after sparking outrage

Fans of ITV's Saturday Morning with James Martin were not pleased with today's (16 December) episode, due to a guest appearance from Cliff Richard.

The veteran pop star appeared on the show with Judi Love and the pair tried James' cod and roast beef. But viewers said the 83 year old's appearance was "insufferable" following previous "fat-shaming" comments while on another TV show, reports The Mirror.

The official ITV Saturday Morning account posted: "This am @jamesmartinchef is joined by Sir Cliff Richard and @1Judilove, who try cod, roast beef and Yorkshire puddings, and chicken blanquette. @RichardBertinet, @_LisaAllen and Sat Bains are in the house too, cooking up a storm with some delicious recipes! See you at 9.30, @ITV."

However, viewers were not impressed and took to Twitter to express their annoyance. One viewer wrote: "Cliff Richards is insufferable, sorry James. He completely ruined that episode of #Saturdaykitchen a few weeks back and will no doubt have the same effect on your show."

A second commented: "After his fat shaming on This Morning I will give it a miss thanks". While one viewer switched to the BBC and said: "I’m out over to Matt and Saturday kitchen on BBC one today .. Cliff not for me."

"Sorry James but why Cliff Richard. There are plenty of others for you to have chosen from. I will be watching but with gritted teeth. JH," a fourth added.

Another shocked fan posted: "#saturdayjamesmartin My eyes will never unsee Cliff Richard dancing. What was that?" One other simply stated: "Cliff Richard? I'm out."

It comes after Cliff Richard made some comments about Elvis Presley's weight on This Morning while chatting with Alison Hammond, Dermot O'Leary, and Sarah Ferguson. He talked about his long career and mentioned he had a chance to meet Elvis but didn't go because Elvis had gained weight.

He surprisedly said: "He'd put on a lot of weight. I thought, 'if I'm taking a photograph with him, and it's going to be hanging on my refrigerator, he's gotta look good.'" After Elvis passed away in 1977, Cliff realised he missed his opportunity, adding: "I put it off, and then, of course, he died."

Alison wasn't impressed by his words, responding: "Should never have put it off just because they're a little bit heavier."

Cliff added: "If you're a fan of somebody, if you get the chance to meet them, meet them, even if they're put on weight." While Alison joked: "Is that why you don't want me at your house?"
