Kate Garraway says Ben Shephard is 'winding her up' over her birthday
Kate Garraway and Ben Shephard were talking all things Coronation on Thursday’s instalment of Good Morning Britain.
However, Ben was keen to bring the spotlight on to his co-star as he teased her birthday as a nationally-celebrated occasion.
He said: “There’s so much preparation, organisation going on at the moment for… Kate Garraway’s birthday.”
The host quickly added: “Oh I think people are disappointed, they thought I was talking about the coronation”.
Kate said: “People keep saying ‘oh we forgot’. How many years have I been on this show and you forgot? It’s [also] Star Wars day.”
Ben inquired as to how old Kate was, joking that she turns 59 today.
Kate replied: “I would be proud to be 59. I am only, though, 56.”
Viewers flocked to Twitter to wish the star a happy birthday, unable to get over her age.

In a separate Facebook page for the programme, one user said: “Happy 56th birthday Kate. Many happy returns xxxx”
Another commented: “Happy birthday Kate, 56 never looked better”, while a second said: “56??? She looks amazing”.
A third added: “Looks more like 46, looking great KG”.
Later in the programme Kate called Ben “so cheeky” for saying she “looked great for 60” as he continued to poke fun at her age.
Ryan said on Twitter: “Happy birthday Kate” with a series of celebratory emojis.
Elsewhere in the episode, Kate said: “Ben is being very cheeky with me, winding me up!”
As she spoke to Lorraine Kelly ahead of her show, Lorraine wished her a happy birthday and presented a chocolate muffin with a candle on the top.
Ben continued to joke about the star being 60, which she brushed off with giggles.
