Do you have what it takes to work for Lisa Vanderpump? The restaurateur and reality TV star is looking for a few talented people to join the team at Vanderpump Cocktail Garden, her Las Vegas restaurant that opened earlier this year. Vanderpump shared the news on her Instagram stories on Thursday.
Vanderpump Cocktail Garden is looking for new bartenders and cocktail servers
Vanderpump let her followers know that her latest restaurant would be hosting a hiring event on August 16. Would-be employees were instructed to fill out an application online at Caesars.com and then reserve a spot at the hiring event on Eventbrite. (Registration for the hiring event has since closed.)
“We are looking for smiles, energy, and enthusiasm,” the hiring managers explained. “This will be a high energy interview so please bring a smile and upbeat personality.”
Style is important too. Don’t even think about showing up in jeans and a T-shirt.
“Come dressed to impress,” the hiring managers noted.
Applicants need to be comfortable with cameras
No surprise here. Anyone who hopes to land a job at Vanderpump Cocktail Garden needs to be comfortable in front of the cameras. After all, you never know when the Vanderpump Rules crew might show up. A job posting on LinkedIn for a bartender noted that applicants “must be willing and able to appear on television or be filmed while performing day to day job functions.”
You also need to be able to keep your cool when interacting with famous people. “Must be able to interact with high profile guests and celebrities while maintaining a professional demeanor,” reads the ad. In other words, if seeing Jax and Brittany in person would cause you to freak out, this isn’t the job for you.
To get the job, you also need to be at least 21 and have experience working in a customer-facing role, preferably at a high-end cocktail lounge. A flexible schedule, a knowledge of cocktails, and a pleasant demeanor are also important.
How much do Las Vegas bartenders and cocktail waitresses earn?
The job ads don’t list an hourly wage for the positions. But according to Glassdoor, the average bartender in Las Vegas earns $21,134 per year. Salaries for cocktail waitresses are similar.
Employees at a high-profile spot like Vanderpump Cocktail Garden could earn more, though. And Gold Star Bartending notes that average salaries might not take into account tips. Once those are added in, a bartender working at a high-end spot could earn hundreds of dollars per night, for an annual salary of more than $45,000.
Six-figure salaries might be possible for skilled bartenders at the most exclusive bars and lounges. The Las Vegas Sun notes that cocktail waitresses in Sin City can earn more than $50,000 a year, making them among the best-paid service workers in the U.S. For many, waitressing is a long-term career choice.
