Loose Women viewers in uproar as stars slam and mock the Kings Coronation

Loose Women viewers were left in uproar over a segment on The Coronation.

Ruth Langsford, Coleen Nolan, Kelle Bryan and Janet Street-Porter took to Tuesday's (May 9) edition of the long-running ITV daytime debate programme, where their first segment was on the crowning of HM King Charles III and Queen Camilla in Westminster Abbey.

However, despite widespread celebrations of the historic event, it seems the panel had much to criticise about the occasion.

At first, the quartet discussed the newly released Coronation portrait of the Royal Family and what it might signify, but as Ruth, directed her first question at Janet, the conversation took a turn for the critical.

Janet, 76, slammed the portrait as she called it 'too formal' as she stated: "It's formal. It's a little bit desiccated, a little bit stodgy.

"I know they always are, I know that William wants to move the monarchy in to the 21st century and to slim it down. I would have thought they could have brought the kids in, that would have perked it up for a start.

"I just think it looks like nothing much is changing. I mean, maybe that's the point of a formal photo. But I just think it just needed someone to produce it to make it look a little bit more of the 21st century. It's a bit stiff.

Later the panel discussed the much-awaited appearance by the entire family on the balcony of Buckingham Palace, to which Janet couldn't help but find fault.

She explained: "What I also found is when they all got back on the balcony, and we've got the fact that the shot we'd be waiting hours and hours for, it was so underpowered.

"It's almost like they were exhausted by what had gone on before. And I felt like saying get the kids, let them do more."

Later Coleen, 58, jibed in as she criticised Their Majesties, The King and Queen for their lack of smiling at the historic event.

She said: "In the day I thought, just smile a bit.

Ruth, 63, quickly interjected: "Do you not think that's the responsibility of the day? No, just everything we've practised, or having to do everything properly. Like say she just smiled in the wrong place?"

To which Coleen fired back: "How can you smile in the wrong place? You just been made King and Queen!"

But viewers were outraged at the tone of the discussion as one watcher stated: "Why cant loose women say something nice for once and focus on the actual day and how well we did as a country."

Another penned: "Make your minds up fish wives. Yesterday they were pro royals and today knifes are out."

Meanwhile, a third wrote: "Colleen moaning about the King and Queen not smiling……….pot and kettle."

A fourth asked: "Who wants a bet that it will be Bryant that moans about the coronation?", before he shortly exclaimed: "My bad, stroppy Janet instead."

And a fifth enquired "Are they still banging on about the Coronation?"

Although some viewers dad praise Ruth Langsford's questions about Royal comfort breaks.

On the show she pondered: "I can't help myself through the whole coronation, including the formal photographs and the official photographs and all the way through the coronation, All I think about the practicalities, I'm so boring, like – when did she go to the loo last?"

To which one viewer was in complete agreement, writing: "I definitely thought when they were able to have comfort breaks too, Ruth!"
