Michael Owen has recalled the moment he was told off by the Queen.

The football legend was in the audience for The National Lottery's Big Jubilee Street Party which aired on ITV on Saturday, June 4.

Host Jason Manford chatted to Michael and the sportsman went on to share his experience meeting Her Majesty at Royal Ascot.

He ended up squeezing into a lift with the Queen but things didn't go quite to plan.

Michael explained: "She was calling us all to squeeze in. Of course, we'd been told as soon as you're talking to the Queen take your hat off.

"So I took my hat off naturally and the Queen was telling everybody to squeeze in and my hat's off and i'm right next to her now.

"She looked down at my hat and said 'if you put your hat back on, we might all be able to fit in this lift."

"I didn't know if she was having a go at me or what and I don't know this day."

The entertainment extravaganza saw famous faces including Ella Henderson, Becky Hill, Heather Small, and Steps entertain an audience of 10,000 at the AO Arena in Manchester.

Opening up about the special event, Nigel Railton, CEO of National Lottery operator Camelot, said of the event: "The National Lottery is incredibly proud to be hosting the UK's biggest street party for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in Manchester.

"It is going to be a superb evening that everyone will be able to see and enjoy on ITV soon after.

"The National Lottery will be celebrating the incredible role our Monarch has played in bringing communities together, something very close to the hearts of everyone involved with the National Lottery and something players have helped make possible for more than 27 years."
