THE National Television Awards will be postponed until April 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The ceremony was due to be go ahead in January 2021 as usual, but organisers have chosen to postpone it for safety reasons.

A spokesperson for the NTAs said: "The National Television Awards has today announced that the 2021 NTAs has been rescheduled to Tuesday 20th April 2021 and tickets will be honoured for the new date.

"Information about new NTA voting categories being launched in 2021 and the first round of voting will be released this Autumn."

The ceremony, held in the O2 in London, sees members of the public vote for their favourite TV shows, personalities and soaps.

The categories range from best TV Presenter to Live Magazine Show, with Ant and Dec and This Morning winning their respective categories last year.

The 2020 ceremony was hit by several different controversies, including host David Walliams being heavily criticised or his performance.

The Britain's Got Talent star's turn at the celeb-filled event was panned by rival Piers Morgan while viewers called it "boring".

Now David is reportedly not coming back for next's year, with a source telling the Mail On Sunday: "David is a very sensitive soul and was all too aware of the negative feedback.

"He doesn’t want to put himself through that again."

Piers, who boycotted the ceremony in protest over GMB never winning an award, called the host annoying as he watched from home.

Meanwhile, Love Island star Chris Hughes was filmed screaming "I'm not a c***" at a photographer as he attacked him – just hours after his then-girlfriend Jesy Nelson won her first NTA.

The former Love Island star pushed and kicked the snapper as he yelled at him – claiming he’d been called a “c***”.

The incident was later investigated by police and Chris apologised for "distracting" from Jesy's win on her big night.
