NCIS: New Orleans surprised fans this season with the death of a prominent character. The loss left many spinning new theories to cling to, such as reboots of old favorites. For example, one NOLA lead once starred in another hit show and fans think a reboot might fill the void.
‘NCIS: New Orleans’ actors have a lot of crossover projects
In case you’ve never paid much attention to the casting of the NCIS franchise, there is a lot of actor crossover not only between NCIS shows but other projects.
It’s one thing to see Christopher LaSalle (Lucas Black) begin on NCIS, then transfer to the NOLA division, but it’s quite another to take a deep dive into the actors’ IMDb profiles to compare notes.
Two actresses, Vanessa Ferlito (who plays Tammy Gregorio) and Necar Zadegan (who plays Hannah Khoury) have both been on the series 24. Ferlito appeared in 2003-2004 as Claudia Hernandez, while Zadegan starred in the 2010 version as Dalia Hassan.
That’s not the only coincidence. CCH Pounder (who plays Loretta Wade) also starred opposite NOLA co-star, Scott Bakula, on Quantum Leap in 1990.
Another of her notable credits, Law & Order: SVU is one series of the same franchise other NCIS actors have appeared on, such as Bakula. His one-episode stint happened right after Pounder’s exit from the show.
The point is, the NCIS: New Orleans cast may have been kismet from the start.
Fans want to see this reboot, ASAP
Fans of the series are also hardcore fans of the actors themselves. When Baulka posts anything reminiscent of his Quantum Leap days, the hope for a reboot rekindles.
The show’s premise followed Dr. Sam Beckett whose time experimentation goes wrong. Sam bounced through different time periods, leaping into the body of someone else — someone different each week.
When Sam took on another body, he had the chance to right their wrongs and he took on that person’s whole look. Through the series that lasted from 1989-1993, fans watched in anticipation to see if Sam would ever make his way back home.
One of Bakula’s Instagram posts referenced his beloved character for a Comic-Con appearance. That’s all it took for comments to pour in.
“Still one of my favorite shows of all time, TV is just not the same. You know Sam could give that accelerator another go,” one fan said.
“Bring him back Scott, just for an episode. Let’s see where Sams leaping to now!” another added.
Another’s sentiment rang throughout the comment thread.
“One of my favorite shows of all time! Loved Dr. Sam Beckett! Quantum Leap was so ahead of its time!!”

How does Scott Bakula feel about a reboot?
Bakula is a notoriously private guy. The NCIS: New Orleans actor gives few interviews, and prefers to keep a low-profile outside of work-related events. This, he said in the past, is because he doesn’t want his name in the tabloids and likes to keep his personal life to himself.
Over the span of his multi-decade career, Bakula learned a few hard lessons on how to balance his career and his family life. However, Bakula shared his thoughts on the 30th anniversary of Quantum Leap with Variety.
“[Creator Don] Bellisario was talking about rebooting it a while ago, where it’d be about Sam’s daughter and she followed in his footsteps. I thought that was a pretty interesting way to do that, also,” he said.
“Or you could take it to another country and reboot it as a young female physicist in South America somewhere. The possibilities are endless. It still feels like a fresh idea.”
Bellisario also has another secret in his pocket for Bakula fans.
“I just finished writing a Quantum Leap feature,” he told fans at L.A. Comic Con. “I don’t know what’s going to happen with it, but I did write it.”
He wouldn’t spill too many details but provided insight into his writing process.
“I write things exactly the same way. I just start writing and I let them take me wherever it’s going to take me. I’m entertained the same way the audience is. So I just put Scott and Dean [Stockwell] in my head, kind of rebooted them, and went from there.”
It sounds like Bakula and Quantum Leap creators know how to make this reboot happen if only to appease NCIS: New Orleans fans with a little more “Pride,” (and Loretta, too).
