PAUL Mescal has vented his disappointment at Daisy Edgar-Jones' Emmys nomination snub.
Heaping praise on his Normal People co-star, Paul admitted he's her "biggest fan".
The 24-year-old spoke as he came to grips with being nominated in the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited Series or Movie category for his role as Connell.
The Irish star is up against the likes Hugh Jackman, 51, and Mark Ruffalo, 52, for the part which was his first TV outing.
Despite Daisy starring opposite him in the role of Marianne in the smash hit BBC Three drama, the 22-year-old failed to get a nomination.
Paul told Deadline after the nominee announcement: "I’m the biggest fan of her as an actor.
"I just would not for a second have have been able to do anything that I did without her."
He added: "It wouldn’t have happened."
Paul, who is set to star in new Channel 5 thriller The Deceived next month, further commented on Daisy's snub from the female category which had nominations for Brits Olivia Colman, 46, and Jodie Comer, 27.
He told Vulture: "If it was me I would have given her all the love in that category.
"I can’t speak highly enough of the work she did on the show.
"I know there are extraordinary actresses nominated in that category, but I think Daisy’s work is just phenomenal in this."
Despite her own lack of acknowledgement from the Emmys board, yesterday Daisy shared a picture from the set of Paul and Lenny Abrahamson, who is nominated for Outstanding Directing For A Limited Series, Movie Or Dramatic Special.
