Phil Schofield concerned coronavirus pandemic will be ‘survival of the fittest’

This Morning host Phillip Schofield shared his concern over coronavirus on Thursday morning.

The daytime TV veteran, 57, looked visibly shaken and worried as he and co-host Holly Willoughby discussed the growing breakout of the bug with three medical professionals.

Phil became deeply concerned after Intensive Care consultant Alison Pitard urged elderly viewers to talk openly with medical professionals if they become unwell with the virus.

In response, Phil exclaimed: "I’m worried!

"I’m worried, just here now. I think I would be reflecting what a lot of people watching would maybe think. This is the first time we’ve nearly heard of survival of the fittest?"

Trying to reassure Phil, This Morning's Doc Zoe added: "I am afraid for some of my [older] patients, but it takes all of us to do the right thing, which at the moment is to follow the advice to protect those that are vulnerable."

The latest episode of This Morning was heavily focused on coronavirus but some viewers were left unimpressed with Brexit Party leader Nigel Farage being invited on to discuss Covid-19.

He was joined by Vanessa Feltz on the sofa to chat about the virus – where he hit out at the government for not looking after the UK and called for the country to be locked down.

Viewers lashed out at the production team for asking Nigel to comment and quizzed on why he was being hailed a 'coronavirus expert'.

Another added: "#ThisMorning since when has Nigel Farage been an expert on #cornoravirusuk – ridiculous that he is on your show!"

"Why is Nigel Farage still getting a platform? World Coronavirus Experts Farage & Feltz wth #ThisMorning" asked a baffled daytime TV fan.

There have been more than 456 cases in the UK of coronavirus, while five people have died, all aged in their 60s, 70s or 80s and with underlying health problems.
