Power showrunner confirms production on spin-offs has stopped amid coronavirus outbreak

Following the divisive Power series finale on Starz, it was announced four spin-off series would be coming to the network in order to keep fans of the hit crime drama on the edge of their seats. However, as the coronavirus pandemic continues to affect countries all over the globe, showrunner Courtney Kemp has confirmed production on Book II: Ghost and Book III: Raising Kanan have come to a “temporary” halt.

Production on the Power spin-off series came to a halt on Friday, March 13, according to Deadline.

The publication broke the news but also stated: “There will not be a postponement of the writer’s rooms on the Mary J Blige and Omar Epps, respectively, starring spin-offs as all the scripts on the two Courtney Kemp created series have been completed.”

The postponement was announced following the news that New York state, where both series were being filmed, had the greatest number of coronavirus cases in the US.

Power showrunner Courtney Kemp took to her Instagram page to provide fans with more information.
