Fans of Power will get to reunite with the St Patrick family later this year in Power Book II which follows Tariq (played by Michael Rainey Jr) during his time at college. They will also be introduced to Monet (Mary J Blige) and her daughter Diana. As Tariq looks to move on with his life, could he find he uncovers more secrets?
Power viewers have long believed Kanan Stark (Curtis ’50 Cent’ Jackson) was the father of Tariq and Raina St Patrick.
However, this was never confirmed in the six seasons with Tariq calling Ghost (Omaria Hardwick) his father before shooting him.
But that doesn’t mean the issue won’t be addressed in the new spin-offs, especially Raising Kanan which could show how Kanan came to meet Ghost and Tommy Egan (Joseph Sikora).
Perhaps the spin-off will also show how Kanan was framed by Ghost and Tasha before being sent to prison.

There have been several clues Tariq and Raina were actually Kanan’s children.
The first came in season two when Kanan murdered his son Shawn in cold blood after he became close to Ghost.
Shawn saw Ghost as a father figure but didn’t bond with Kanan while he also grew close to Tasha (Naturi Naughton).
This is important because it wasn’t until he told Kanan he was leaving New York with “Tasha and the kids” that he was shot.
If Kanan wasn’t the father of Tariq and Raina, then why would be he so angry about Shawn leaving town with them?
The second clue came when Jukebox asked Kanan why Ghost had tried to kill him and if he wanted revenge for what was taken.
Kanan mentioned Ghost had “take his son”, could he have been talking about Tariq?
Later, when Jukebox tricked Tariq during a drug run to see how loyal he was, she told Kanan “your boy held tough”.

Kanan was close to Jukebox and could have told her about Tariq and his suspicions he was actually his father.
Furthermore, when Jukebox threatened the teen’s life, he didn’t hold back when it came to protecting Tariq by shooting Jukebox.
The final clue came when Kanan told Tasha he often thought about her when he was in prison.
He whispered: “I used to think about you sometimes when I was inside.
“If you ever need anything, anything you aren’t getting from Ghost, you know you can ask me.”

Tasha didn’t like having Kanan around her children and it could be because she didn’t want them or Ghost finding out the truth.
It would also explain why she was so keen to see him framed and sent to prison.
In the upcoming spin-offs, could fans finally get to learn the truth and see Kanan and Tasha together?
Power Book II is set to air in Summer 2020 on Starz.
