'RHOC': Have Tamra Judge's Sons Resolved Their Political Differences?

When The Real Housewives of Orange County debuted this season, cameras captured Tamra Judge’s divided family. Her older son, Ryan Vieth passionately proclaimed his love of President Donald Trump. Whereas her younger son Spencer Barney could not be more opposite with his beliefs.

The divide created noticeable tension in Judge’s home. “Ryan is a fanatic Trump supporter,” Judge says in a confessional interview during an early episode. “And Spencer’s the total opposite.” Judge is seen trying to motivate Vieth to talk to his brother too. But Vieth felt Barney was in the wrong and the apology should come from him.

The season was filmed months ago, so have Judge’s sons finally resolved their differences? Plus, why was Vieth so dug in?

Judge believes this is why Vieth was at odds with his brother

Vieth was offended because he says Barney called him a racist. “He [was] talking to me the way he talked to me,” Vieth said. “He called me a racist.” Judge asks Vieth to talk to her younger son.  “[Barney] wasn’t ready for the repercussion. Am I going to go kick his ass? No. I’m not stressed about it, but you can talk to him about that,” Vieth says grinning. “That’s the deal.”

Judge believes that Vieth sees the opportunities his brother had and could be a little jealous. “Now Ryan sees all the fancy things in life that Spencer has and I think there might be a little bit of jealousy between the two of them,” she said in a confessional. “And I think Ryan is the one that has to come around.”

She later shared in The Real Housewives of Orange County After Show, Vieth knew he would recieve backlash for his beliefs. “Last year, he wouldn’t even talk about it because he was afraid of the backlash we would get from viewers,” she said. “So this year, I was really surprised that he just was full force, talked about it. This year he was really in a low place in his life. It’s like he looks at Trump as if Trump is God. He’s really looking at him to find, like strength in his life. And it just comes across …as a little much.”

Have Vieth and Barney resolved their differences?

Judge tried to bring her sons together in a recent episode. But her efforts backfired, as Barney lashed out at her. She shared in an RHOC After Show that Barney was taken off guard and upset she put him on the spot.

A producer asked Judge if her sons resolved their differences. “Yeah, they’re good,” she said. How? “Well, now it’s a joke between them, and if Ryan comes over, Spencer will put a Bernie Sanders sticker on the back of his car. Or Ryan will put a Trump sticker on his car. So now they just joke about it.”

She adds that they need to leave the political talk out of the family. “We’re not going to get into any deep conversations on politics,” she said.
