Richie Anderson was announced as the first Strictly Come Dancing contestant to make it through to Movie Week with Giovanni Pernice. They scored 32 out of 40 on Saturday evening for their stellar performance and words the pair exchanged following their routine have now been revealed by BBC bosses. It comes after radio presenter Richie shut down rumours of tension with last year’s Strictly winner Giovanni.

The pair were straight at the top of the leaderboard on Saturday with their quickstep, with all four judges awarding them a score of eight.

Dressed in sparkling jackets and top hats, the duo danced across the ballroom floor to Dancin’ by Barry Manilow.

Their routine included an array of standout moves including choreography from Beyoncé’s Single Ladies music video to cartwheels.

They even received a standing ovation from judges Shirley Ballas and Motsi Mabuse for their fast-paced performance.

Strictly Come Dancing’s Twitter page shared a video clip of the contestants dancing together for the live show at the weekend.

The video includes subtitles of what the celebrities and their partners said to each other during or after their routines.

Richie and Giovanni were shown celebrating their quickstep in the short montage.

After completing their routine, Giovanni fist-pumped the air and yelled: “Get in!”

Richie hugged the Italian dancer joyfully and said: “I love you.”

The dance came days after they appeared on It Takes Two on BBC One with presenter Janette Manrara.

Addressing feud rumours, Giovanni stated: “There is no problem between us, we are having a good time. Forget about what you’re writing, it’s not true.”

“They are in love everybody,” former Strictly professional Janette quipped.

Giovanni set the record straight with BBC viewers after he and Richie were photographed leaving the dance studio separately.

A source told The Sun the duo were not getting on and Giovanni was finding it difficult to teach his partner the dance routines.

“The pair haven’t clicked,” they claimed. “Richie is so swept up by the whole experience that he is talking 100 words a minute, and it can be hard for Giovanni.

“He has told pals that Richie talks instead of listening during training, and it is frustrating.”

Giovanni and Richie are now in the process of learning their routine for Movie Week which will air live on Saturday evening.

The first celebrity to be booted out of the competition was Loose Women host Kaye Adams who was partnered with Kai Widdrington.

They were in the dance-off with singer Matt Goss and Ukrainian dancer Nadiya Bychkova.

Strictly Come Dancing continues on Saturday a 6.45pm on BBC One.
