Riverdale season 4, episode 14 release date: When does the next episode air?

The CW series Riverdale made a comeback in the new year with the mystery surrounding Jughead Jones (played by Cole Sprouse) and his supposed death playing out. Season four will be continuing this week with episode 13 which will be seeing Veronica Lodge (played by Camila Mendes) thrown into turmoil as her boyfriend Archie Andrews (KJ Apa) tries to support her.

Riverdale will be taking a week’s break after episode 13 called Chapter Seventy: The Ides of March.

Riverdale showrunner Roberto Aguirre Sacasa has already teased the episode on social media.

Posting to his 235,000 followers, he shared a snap of Jughead looking concerned and captioned the image: “It all does down on next week’s #Riverdale. Beware the Ides of March. Beware the Stonies. Jughead, DON’T. GO. INTO. THE. WOODS.”

The tweet is ominous and suggests fans could find out more about Jughead’s absence from Riverdale before he was apparently killed off.

When will Riverdale season 4, episode 14 be released?

Episode 14 is called Chapter Seventy-One: How to Get Away with Murder and will be airing on The CW in America on Wednesday, February 26.

Netflix UK will be dropping the episode the next day on Thursday, February 27 for those outside North America to watch.

While plot details remain sketchy for the instalment, the story is likely to be inspired by ABC hit series How To Get Away With Murder.

Each episode of Riverdale riffs off popular culture references and How To Get Away With Murder will be no different.

The episode has been written by Arabella Anderson and directed by James DeWille.

There’s been some speculation Betty Cooper (Lili Reinhart), Archie and Veronica did bump someone off in the woods – but it wasn’t Jughead.

Given ABC series How To Get Away With Murder is about covering up a killing, Riverdale looks like it will be doing something similar.

Either someone will be bumped off and the main characters will be trying to hide it or they could be aiding Charles Smith (Wyatt Nash).

The episode also could be linked of how the teens hide Jughead’s death or rather fake death in the show.

Speaking about Jughead’s storyline at San Diego Comic-Con last year, Sprouse told media including Showbiz Junkies: “Jughead is only in Riverdale at the weekends now.

“His main storyline is the prep school which is sort of the building blocks of the whole flash forward thing that we’re doing with season four.

“It’s the locus of the mystery of this season is this strange, elitist prep school.”

Adding: “The prep school is serving for the setting of the mystery.”

Reflecting on the character’s trajectory in the fourth outing, the star said: “I have a feeling season four Jughead is very much season one Jughead, which is the perspective character, the writer who’s feeling everything from the outside and not so much the gang leader.”

Riverdale season four has now crossed the halfway mark with a total of 22 episodes in the drama.

While it’s not clear why season four is taking a break for a week, it could be linked to the Presidents’ Day bank holiday on February 17.

This means there could be special programming on this week which could affect Riverdale’s broadcast.

Despite the brief hiatus, Riverdale isn’t going anywhere. The show has also been given the greenly light for a fifth outing which is anticipated to be airing in October.

Riverdale airs on The CW in the US on Wednesdays at 8/7c and on Netflix UK on Thursdays
