Spoilers: Gray kills Leo's mum in EastEnders as he explodes under the pressure?

Gray Atkins (Toby-Alexander Smith) has a been struggling under the pressure of being everyone’s go-to solicitor in EastEnders, but with him having successfully managed to get Whitney Dean (Shona McGarty) out on bail, the pressure is on once more in the build-up to the trial — and the return of Leo King’s (Tom Wells) mum Michaela Turnbull (Fiona Allen) only adds to this stress.

Gray found himself in an awkward position earlier this year when his friends and neighbours came to his house to personally plead with him to represent Whitney.

In spite of the pressure that came with a murder case, he agreed to do so, but matters were complicated, as representing Kush (Davood Ghadami) was something of a conflict of interest, as he needed Kush to plead guilty if he wanted to prove Leo was a threat to Whitney’s safety.

The stress of trying to do the right thing resulted in him losing his job, and therefore he repeatedly lashed out at wife Chantelle (Jessica Plummer) — before carrying out his most violent assault yet.

Eventually, he found evidence to prove that Leo was stalking Whitney and therefore she was released on bail — which gave him a momentary reprieve from the pressure, but said pressure is back on as Whitney’s trial approaches.

In the coming episodes, the solicitor reassures Whitney ahead of her appearance in court, but matters are complicated when Leo’s mum, Michaela, returns to Albert Square, and before long, she blames Whitney for what transpired — which leaves Gray to defuse the situation.

Later, Gray and Chantelle attempt to calm down a shaken Whitney, but Chatnelle’s reassurances proceed to rile Gray up, as he becomes annoyed with his wife once more.

The whole situation is therefore made worse when Michaela arrives at The Vic — intent on causing a scene. Determined to maker sure that doesn’t happen, Gray ushers her out of the pub, and issues her with a warning.

The pressure is evidently once again getting to Gray, and — with him determined to prove that he’s worthy of returning to his firm — everything really is on the line for him, and Michaela is a complication that he could certainly do without.

As a result, one can’t help but wonder if he’ll do what he can to remove her from the equation?

He issues her with a severe warning, so he certainly means business.

Is he capable of murder?
