Coronation Street is lining up dramatic and dangerous scenes for David Platt (Jack P Shepherd) as he continues to spiral out of control. Having lost Shona Ramsey (Julia Goulding), who no longer wants to see him and has called for a divorce, David is on a destructive brink and finds himself dealing with it in a terrible manner.
Previous to his vigilante action that David carries out, he falls victim to a mugging at knifepoint, which leaves him shaken.
But in a shock turn of events, he now heads out seeking more trouble – either to punish those who left him petrified or as some kind of thrill.
New pictures have shown him deliberately entering a rough estate to confront a drug dealing gang of violent criminals. He deliberately goads them, even standing on their car – prompting them to go on the attack and give chase.
But as he triggers a terrifying situation that puts his life in danger, just what is his motive? And is this just the beginning of a chaotic new lifestyle for him as he takes his residual anger out through vigilante action? And how much danger is he in?
David only backs away from the confrontation when policeman Craig Tinker (Colson Smith) arrives on the scene and David makes himself scarce. But there is a very clear indication that this could just be scratching the surface of David’s breakdown.
His new actions saw Jack and a crew filming on location for a storyline that will air next month and it’s been previously warned by show boss Iain MacLeod that David will face one his his ‘biggest challenges to date.’
Meanwhile, Julia is back filming and there is another blow for David as it appears that Shona is back in touch with her killer son Clayton Hibbs (Callum Harrison).
Speaking about the future, producer Iain told Metro.co.uk: ‘The David/Shona story is very big. The character of David can pretty much sustain any kind of story, whether it be comedy or tragedy, and this is probably slightly more towards the latter category.

‘This is going to be very big, not just in January, but all the way through to next year. The events of Christmas will provide David and Shona with the biggest test of their relationship – and that’s not an exaggeration.
‘If you consider what they have been through already, that is no small statement.’
