The new series marked a seismic shift for Stranger Things with characters meeting their maker and other departing from the small American town. Stranger Things also featured a post-credit scene that left fans with so many burning questions about the Netflix show. Perhaps one of the big ones is: what the Russians will use the Demogorgon for?
WARNING: This article contains spoilers from Stranger Things season 3
Season three ended on a chilling note with the Russians feeding one of their prisoners to a captured Demogorgon.
The scene was harrowing as we saw the guards locking a man in with the creature which was released from its own cell to feed on the human.
Just how the Russians had captured the Demogorgon remained unknown but they may well have managed to acquire one from the Upside Down, where the creatures seem to live.
WILL THERE BE ANOTHER SERIES OF STRANGER THINGS?
Will the Demogorgon be used as a weapon?
However, with the Cold War still raging, the Demogorgon could be used as a military weapon against the West and America by the Russians.
The Russians could be hoping the creature can give them a military advantage over their foes.
A possible season four of Stranger Things will be much bigger in scope and scale and could see the Cold War again erupting with biological warfare in the form of Demogorgons.
IS HOPPER ALIVE IN STRANGER THINGS?
As fans may remember, Erica Sinclair (played by Priyah Ferguson) noted several seven foot cages in the Russians underground base beneath Starcourt Mall.
There have been theories the Russians were collecting Demogorgons to use in their battle against the US.
Fans have been speculating on Reddit with one person posting: “I predict the demogorgon will be their problem in season 4 and then later on it will be revealed that it Is actually dart and Dustin tames it.”
WILL KALI RETURN IN STRANGER THING SEASON 4?
Someone else noted: “They had the cages for them in America too, when erica asked how big they were. That was definitely the goal.”
While another said: “It was confirmed earlier that Dr Brenner or “Papa” is still somehow alive despite the demogorgon jumping on his face. I would bet that the Russians have Brenner somewhere, maybe in the cell in the post season credits.”
Stranger Things creators Matt and Ross Duffer have also spoken about a potential season four and what fans could expect.
Ross explained to Entertainment Weekly: “Assuming there’s a season four, obviously the question of who that American is in that cell and then also what they’re doing with the Demogorgon, is a tease.”

They said they had the “big broad strokes” in place with season four but were now ‘filling in those lines in the details”.

“Again, like we said, it’s going to feel very different than this season. But I think that’s the right thing to do and I think it’ll be exciting.”
