AJ Pritchard, 27, left the series in 2020 after four years as a professional dancer on Strictly Come Dancing. Speaking exclusively to Express.co.uk, the choreographer revealed he’d enjoy making a return as a judge. Could he be lined up for next year’s show?

AJ took part in the hit BBC competition from 2016 to 2019, before making an exit last year to take on other projects.

He participated in last year’s I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! and has landed some acting and pantomime roles.

He admitted he would always miss Strictly though, and suggested he could return as a judge.

“I love judging,” he told Express.co.uk.

“I love the aspect of giving constructive criticism and really understanding and seeing someone’s assets and kind of helping them on the journey.

“It’s the same way that if you’re teaching you can kind of help them on a journey.

“That’s the same as what a judge does and you see that with the couples – the pros and the celebrities, they take on board that information and they come back the next week like they want the badge from the headteacher.

“That’s nice to see that so definitely, a judging job – I would love that one day.

“I think it would be an amazing job.”

As well as knowing what it takes to get far on Strictly, AJ also offered some advice to this year’s I’m A Celeb contestants ahead of the series.

It seems one piece of advice he gave has been proven necessary as this year’s campmates all seem to be struggling with the chilly conditions of the Welsh castle.

Talking about his own experience last year, AJ recalled: “It was very cold!

“So whoever is going in this year, turn your heating off, prepare yourself for the cold and wear extra socks.”

He continued: “With I’m A Celebrity, being an absolute super fan of the show I grew up watching it in Australia.

“You see the heat, you see the warmth.

“I think your family sees it as fast tickets to the Versace hotel.

“So when I did have to tell my family, ‘I’m sorry, we’re in Wales, 45 minutes from home, so I know it’s going to be wet and cold.

“And there’s no hotels or flights to Australia’, I think they were more upset than I was!”

AJ Pritchard was speaking to Express.co.uk in conjunction with William Hill.

Strictly Come Dancing continues Saturday at 6.45pm on BBC One.
