'The Challenge': Wes Bergmann Said Jenna Compono Was 'Broken' on 'Total Madness'

The Challenge: Total Madness may be over, but infamous player Wes Bergmann is still talking about what went down. While Bergmann lost to Johnny “Bananas” Devenanzio during an elimination, he has plenty to say about the cast. And he told the Challenge Mania podcast that Jenna Compono seemed totally “broken” by what was going on with her and now-fiancé Zach Nichols.

Jenna Compono and Zach Nichols got into a major fight on ‘The Challenge: Total Madness’

Those who watched Total Madness are fully aware of how Compono and Nichols fought on the show. While Compono was on the show ready to compete for the $500,000 prize, Nichols found that other men were directly messaging Compono years ago. After some snooping, he accused Compono of cheating and demanded she come home immediately and forfeit her chance at winning the big money.

Compono didn’t quit the show. Instead, she went into an elimination round to prove she should still be in the competition — and she won. But other competitors commented on how checked out she seemed from everything.

“Jenna was like, every day like, ‘I want to go home.’ I mean, she was not in a great space, so we all thought, you know, at some point, she was gonna go,” Aneesa Ferreira told Challenge Mania. “What better way to go, is like, an elimination, you can just try your hardest, or not try that hard, and go. But it didn’t go that way.”

Wes Bergmann said Compono was ‘broken’ on the show

Bergmann spoke to Challenge Mania about Compono’s mindset in the game. And while there were plenty of times when Compono seemed like she didn’t want to play the game, Bergmann verified that she did want to compete, it was just tough for her to do so.

“Why would she beat Tori if she was trying to go home?” Bergmann noted of Compono’s win against Tori Deal in an elimination. “She was like, hey, if I’m gonna be here, I want to at least have a purpose.”

But Bergmann then noted that after Compono won, she continued to complain about Nichols to everyone in the house. “I think that that was misinterpreted by a lot of people of her quitting,” he continued. “Just because someone’s complaining, just because someone’s upset that they’re in a situation they don’t want to be in, doesn’t mean that they’re necessarily quitting.”

Compono lost the second elimination round she was in. And while Bergmann knows Compono didn’t quit, he does think her heart wasn’t in it anymore after a certain point. “I don’t really think that Jenna was quitting, I just think she was broken,” Bergmann added. “And I think that there’s a big difference.”

Compono will not return to ‘The Challenge’ anytime soon

It looks like Compono’s had enough of The Challenge for awhile. She and Nichols were able to work out their differences, and Nichols mentioned during the virtual reunion that he has zero regrets regarding how things went down on the show. Now, the couple is prepping for their wedding. And Compono told her fans she won’t have much time for reality TV once she’s married.

“Right now all I’m really worrying about is the wedding because that’s in February and nothing is open, so I’m starting to freak out,” Compono told Entertainment Weekly. “Our engagement party got pushed to August. So that sucks too.”

Compono seems to be keeping fans updated with wedding info, so we’re hoping to get more inside scoop on how that’s going. And Compono and Nichols’ time away from the show might be for the best.
