The Chase viewers blast contestant for saying show is ‘harder than childbirth’

The Chase fans weren't happy tonight when contestant Farida stepped forward to battle Chaser Paul Sinha.

Having passed through the cash builder round, she squared up with the Chaser to figure out how much money she should gamble on the show.

Turning to Paul, she remarked: "That was harder than childbirth!"

The quiz master responded that he was shocked that a “lighthearted ITV gameshow” could have been such a painful experience for a contestant.

On Twitter, fans weren't happy with the quip and felt it was a little too dramatic a reaction to the show.

One said: "Harder than childbirth? Bit dramatic…"

A second added: "Farida insulting women everywhere by belittling the agony of giving birth."

While a third remarked: "Harder than childbirth really Farida?"

Farida managed to make it to the next round, where – along with fellow contestant Katrina – they gave Paul a run for his money.

Unfortunately, they were sent home by the Chaser, with host Bradley Walsh remarking: "I’ve gotta take the seven grand away…"

Chaser Paul was on flying form on today's show, as he jokingly took a swipe at contestant Tim on the show.

Looking at Tim's floral shirt, he remarked: "I’m just a bit distracted because, with my quizzer's brain, I’m ranking the 10 worst shirts I’ve seen in my life… and you’re in at number seven."

Taking the joke, Tim quipped back that he hoped he'd ranked in first place, rather than seventh.

Paul answered: "You haven’t seen as many bad shirts as me!"

The Chase continues on weekdays at 5pm on ITV.
