The Flash star Grant Gustin says a ‘suspicious’ Barry will reach a ‘breaking point’ in discovering Mirror-Iris – The Sun

AFTER a month-long hiatus, The Flash season 6 returns to The CW with a new episode tonight, bringing Barry Allen that much closer to discovering Iris is actually Mirror-Iris.

Grant Gustin, who plays the titular superhero, says a “breaking point” is on the way where his character finally realizes the truth about his wife.

With the Speed Force gone, an artificial one needing to be built and Rag Doll back to wreack creepy havoc in season 6, episode 16 — titled ”So Long and Goodnight” — Barry has a lot to deal with.

The 30-year-old Flash actor told TVLine all of these “distractions” are getting in the way of the speedster finding out the real Iris (Candice Patton) is stuck in the Mirrorverse.

He added: “I’m sure viewers are screaming at Barry in certain moments, like, ‘How are you not realizing that something is off?!’

“But he will be the first team member [outside of Wally] to start picking up that something is wrong with Iris, and he starts to get suspicious.

“There’s a breaking point where he looks back at the past few weeks and realizes this isn’t Iris.”

Grant explained the lack of “emotional connection” between Barry and Mirror-Iris is what will eventually make him see the truth of her identity.

He’ll turn to Cecile (Danielle Nicolet) with his suspicions after his “epiphany moment.”

The Glee alum continued: “The writers gave me a really fun scene for when it all lands, where I convey all these ideas about what I think is really going on. We had a lot of fun with it.

Discovering the truth will only be half the battle, though, as he’ll still have to come up with a plan to get his wife back.

Grant revealed: “There’s an emotional connection that will be used… to figure out how to get Iris out of the Mirrorverse.”

The final four episodes of The Flash’s pandemic-shortened season 6 begin airing tonight with episode 16, and, in it, Barry and co. will take new steps in dealing with all of their many enemies and complications.

The synopsis shares: “After Black Hole hires Rag Doll (Troy James) to kill Joe (Jesse L. Martin), Singh (Patrick Sabongui) suggests he go into Witness Protection but Joe refuses to stop investigating Carver (Eric Nenninger).

“While investigating Carver with Cisco (Carlos Valdes), Ralph (Hartley Sawyer) runs into Sue (gNatalie Dreyfuss).

“Iris (Candice Patton) becomes suspicious of Eva (Efrat Dor).”

The Flash airs on Tuesdays at 8 p.m. on The CW.
