Since the very first moment fans saw the little green creature viewers call Baby Yoda, they fell in love. He’s tiny with big bulging eyes and tilts his head ever so sweetly. Thousands of memes are floating around with his face on it.
Viewers cannot get enough of the Child; however, with The Mandalorian Chapter 7, fans were distraught that Baby Yoda could be evil. Let’s take a look at how we know that is not true.

What did Baby Yoda do to cause fans to believe the creature could be evil?
After The Mandalorian Chapter 7 dropped on Disney+, fans took to social media to cry-out about the possibility that the adorable little green creature could be evil. During the chapter, Baby Yoda uses the Force on Kara Dune (Gina Carano) when he thinks Mando (Pedro Pascal) is in danger, while they are arm wrestling.
The Child is watching the two arm wrestle and sees that Kara is winning. Mando does not look happy. Baby Yoda puts his little hand out and Force choke-holds Kara until Mando stops him.
The only other individuals that viewers claim do this are members of the dark side of the Force.
“In the films, its characters like Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader and Kylo Ren have used this ability — it’s considered a Dark Side/Sith-y power,” wrote Entertainment Weekly.
Fans are distraught that the formerly cute and sweet Baby Yoda might be from the Dark side.
Kuiil gives a message to Mando that applies to the Child as well
One fan interprets the message from Kuiil in The Mandalorian Chapter 7 as an indicator of what Baby Yoda is capable of. Kuiil reprogrammed IG-11, who was programmed to kill the Child.
“It had to learn everything from scratch,” Kuiil told Mando. “This is something that cannot be taught with the twist of a spanner. It requires patience and repetition. I spent day after day reinforcing its development with patience and affirmation. It developed a personality as its experiences grew.”
Kuiil nursed the droid back to health and functioning. He taught it to be good instead of evil.
“Likewise, Baby Yoda is neither good nor evil,” one Reddit user explains. “In Chapter 7, we saw good and evil actions from him. We were shown this on purpose, not just to illustrate his power or care for Mando, but to force Mando to reflect on his view of the Child.”
Other fans agree that this viewer has a “great interpretation” of what is happening to Baby Yoda.
‘Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker’ builds on the good versus evil theory as well
The fans that jumped to the conclusion that Baby Yoda must be evil because he is using a dark side power might be drawing too harsh of a parallel.
In the ninth and final movie in the Star Wars Saga, we see Rey (Daisy Ridley) also use dark side powers such as healing and Force lightning. However, in the end, she chooses good over evil. It is possible for beings who are Force-sensitive to use both sides of the power but remain good.
The Rise of Skywalker proved that the internal compass is one that can sway either way. Therefore, just as Rey could have gone to the dark side, Baby Yoda could as well. However, with the proper upbringing and help, he does not have to be evil.
