The Split viewers all say the same thing as mystery woman is spotted after shock twist

EAGLE-eyed fans of The Split think they spotted a mystery woman who may play a big role in upcoming episodes of the BBC drama.

The Split finally returned to our screens on Monday and has already delivered some shocking moments just in the season premiere.

Fans watched how beloved character, James Cutler (Rudi Dharmalingam), was hit by a car whilst riding his bike, and the family rushed to the hospital.

Unfortunately, the doctor delivered the terrible news that he died, with James' wife Rose breaking down as Nina, Hannah and her mother Ruth support her.

As the family gathered themselves to leave the hospital, one woman gave Rose a long and suspicious look.

She passed the women in the corridor and looked directly at Rose until she passed them.

Fans were very curious as to who the woman was and what role she might have to play in future episodes.

"There was a woman who gave Rose a strange look in the hospital – they all think she's connected somehow," one fan wrote on Twitter.

Another added: "Who was that woman she glanced at at the end walking down the corridor??"

And a third wrote: "Oooh that glance from the strange woman in the hospital, who was that?? Can't binge it.."

In the first series, viewers saw Rose have second thoughts about marrying James, before going through with the wedding at the end of the first season.

The third instalment began with Rose and James discussing their desire to have children, with Rose unsure about adopting after learning that the couple were incapable of conceiving by themselves.

As the two are about to head to an adoption centre, they begin arguing over Rose's reluctance to explore the adoption route and James angrily cycled off.

While Rose left her husband a voicemail apologising, telling him that she does want to adopt with him, he never had a chance to hear the message.

A synopsis of the new series released by BBC says: "As Hannah and Nathan begin to divide up their twenty years together, Hannah faces what she is about to lose and a shocking revelation dramatically changes the stakes.

"As the battle lines are redrawn, we wonder if their dream of achieving the 'good divorce' is even possible."

Stephen Mangan and Nicola Walker reprise their roles as Nathan Dafern and Hannah Defoe for the third series.

Annabel Scholey and Fiona Button will return as Defoe sisters Nina and Rose alongside family matriarch Ruth, played by Deborah Findlay.
