Rae Williams had a unique experience on reality TV. She tried to figure out her relationship on Netflix’s new reality dating series The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On. But she ended her journey by coming out as bisexual. She talked about getting support from her celebrity crush and more.
Rae Williams came out as bisexual in ‘The Ultimatum’
The season started with Rae Williams giving an ultimatum to her boyfriend, Zay Wilson. She chose Jake Cunningham as her trial husband and it went well. In the finale, Jake and Rae decided to be together.
The reunion showed Rae dating someone new. She wasn’t getting along with Zay, but she was at least friendly with Jake.
“Since Zay and I split up, I’ve been with one person,” she said. “She’s amazing, and I had a really good connection with her. But we kinda kept it casual. I’m kinda figuring out myself and my sexuality because I was very uncomfortable with being bi for a very long time.”

Williams talked about the reaction to her coming-out moment on the We’re Having Gay Sex podcast.
“Most of it was positive and I was honestly very relieved to get a lot of positive DMs. I also had a lot of DMs from people who have struggled with being accepted. They told me how much it meant for me to come out at the reunion just coming off of a heterosexual dating show they felt represented and seen for the first time to have somebody who was closeted be a part of the cast and kinda show that struggle.”
She acknowledged getting some negative messages. But one message that stood out from the rest was from a celebrity.
“I did have someone who is an absolute icon in the community message me. But not in a flirtatious way. Like strictly on some ‘Congratulations, I’m following you. Proud of your journey.’ Kehlani messaged me and sent some love and support and I lost it.”
When she replied to the singer, she said she made sure not to be “creepy” or “weird.” “She saw the show and she sent her support and I was like crying. And I was like ‘Oh my god Kehlani is one of my celebrity crushes so having her message me was insane.”
Rae talks about her family’s reaction to the reunion
The reality star said although she had a girlfriend before dating Zay, her family and childhood friends didn’t know. She came out to some of them before the reunion aired, but the reunion made it known to the world.
“I had to talk to my dad when the reunion came out. I had to talk to my grandma. I had to talk to a lot of family members that weren’t aware. For the most part, it was positive. I have lost touch with two family members, but aside from that everyone else has been supportive.”
