Tipping Point fans have slammed the 'unjust' quiz show as the "cleverest" player was eliminated in the latest episode.

Friday's edition (August 12) of the ITV programme saw players Melissa and David advance to the penultimate head-to-head round.

After answering every question correctly in the round, David's unlucky counter fall meant he was eliminated instead of Melissa – and online Tipping Point fans were left furious.

Posting to Twitter, viewers swiftly shared their complaints that the smartest contestant had not gone through.

One fan wrote: "There's no justice," while another complained: "I’m not having that. Poor David."

Meanwhile, a third raged: "David got them all right. David is cleverest – that's not right."

A fourth added: "Grr! He should be in final!"

A fifth fan said: "Melissa forfeit your position and send David through."
